Well I'm back guys sorry I have been gone. I have been really busy with my 4h projects and with my acre garden and my flock. I have a question my peas keep making these really really ANNOYING sounds even all through the night and then my male has been trying to mate but when he does he makes this weird ear piercing chirp like sound and dos this mean that there could be fertile eggs if she starts to lay!!!!???? Also my hen has been staying away from him

well got to go my peacock keeps screaming out at the barn!!

It is mating season he is doing what peacocks do this time of year, not to worry i would say you might have fertile eggs coming, peacocks do not mate like chickens, the hen selects the male of her choosing and mating occurs pretty quickly , but unlike chickens they will not mate all threw the day with the hens so you could easily miss it if you are not right there when it occurs

One of my boys does this 'through the night' business, too. About once an hour just one single scream, and I know it's Blu because he and O2 sound completely different. Sounds like he is waking up from a nightmare! But it's just a communication call. Thankfully they're in a wooden coop at night so it cuts down the noise!

And the "chirp" you're talking about is basically the boy saying "HERE I COME LADY" as a proposition, because peas are eloquent like that. Sometimes the girl squats for him, sometimes she's just like "not today buster" and walks away.
