Show off your Peas!

I'm afraid I'd concur with thndrdancr here, at 4 weeks integration may not be possible. Any chance you could borrow a chicken chick from someone for a while, to keep him company and give you a break?  My Chirpie is imprinted, but he had other chicks with him within a week of hatch, so he has always been used to being with both humans and other Peas.

I have chicks but have them outside already. Some banty and LF. The peas aren't due to hatch til the 4th ish

Similar size would be crucial to limit anyone beating anyone up. If they have already been on the ground you would just have to treat the Pea as if he/she were now on the ground as well. Preventative dosing w/ corid to manage cocci and worming after 2-3 weeks of introduction, keep an eye on poop for signs of blackhead, etc....... Those 4th of July chicks will just be too young to be put in with a 5-6 week old. I put my lone hatch from yesterday in with 3 8 day olds this morning and all seems well, but that is only an 8 day difference.

I play leap-frog with my babies in the brooders. The hatchlings go in the brooder with last weeks hatch and the ones that were older go in the next brooder out in the garage where there are four more brooders with varying aged chicks. Usually every brooder has a couple of weeks hatched chicks in each one. The seven and eight week old chicks just went out to the brooder house yesterday. Poor things have to share their space with some 'special' chicken chicks DW hatched out a few weeks ago.

I don't see much pecking on each other unless there are too many in too small of space.

I have a similar system with my birds I have 5 different spots for my birds for the different age chicks

Oh Nanu, such a cute boy!

It's hard to believe he's so big...time passes so quickly.

The greens are setting in nicely, had to give them some guinea friends so they would come out of the brooder box, worked like a charm, they are no longer spazing out, one spazed all the way from Florida off and on we named it head banger but not sure which one it was LOL
