Show off your Peas!

heres some of mine from today

Goldilocks is looking pretty! Her brother and sister still don't have that much yellow on their face. Those are pretty colors on the green boy's wing.

Thanks, Yep I love it too. i guess my first ones up are the cans ,red-crested and some of this years baikals that I kept. Not off topic to me. Where else should people talk about combinations such as peafowl, pheasants and/or ducks combinations on BYC. Uncharted territory,LOL! Matter of fact my only real fear in the long run is having a health problem of some kind with the two or three combined. I do worm the peas and try to keep it sanitary and dry (haha)the best I can. So far so good .Thank God. I really spent alot of time being with my birds today. They are all healthy and happy Im glad to report. It did my soul good! The pecking order seems to be a little lopsided right now. Goldilocks rules over the new green hen ,the new green hen rules over the big green male. And the big green male rules over goldilocks. Nothing major at all though. I figured on the white one (goldilocks) dominating the new bird but it kinda surprises me that the new hen stands up to the male like she does. Ill see how this all works out when breeding season rolls around.
I am always very interested with the neat combinations of birds some people have in their pens. That is funny about your pecking order! I would have never guessed that the new peahen would already be bossing around your peacock. I always hate introducing new birds to the group because I don't like seeing them get picked on so much by the others. It was especially hard for Peep when he first joined the adult peafowl. He was used to being the boss amongst the white peachicks and also he still didn't really understand how to be a peafowl so when he should have known to move out of the way, he would just stand there and then get jumped on by an adult peahen. He quickly learned how to get out of the way!

Sorry I diddnt see you at Farm Day at B&B. Tons of people huh? Wow! I just got home. I didnt see Josh neither but did meet his brother Chris. Wow all those PeaFowl were something. I liked the charchoals and peaches alot. And I nowI know they will run outta any pure greens any time soon. Saw the new pure green imports they just got in also . Now I dont think see a problem getting a girl for both me and my friend. His brother said Josh,s favs were the Java and white crosses. That one boy he was talking about was a stunner. Thats the same with what Elton H is working with now, I guess some of those white pied spaldings will be the wave of the future as far as color varieties go. I can only hope there are some pure greens set aside for the future as well. Boy sure was fun!

Which pen were the new imports in? I was able to find Josh and talked to him twice. I will make a topic for farm day to post all of my photos and we can talk a lot about it there. I went photo crazy and I was in heaven!!! I didn't get to talk to Josh a ton but he said a lot of interesting things.

I think his brother told me that the imports were at the begining of the long row of breeders with Joshes fav bird on the far end of that run( Remember the BIG pretty java boy with all the cool white markings on it?,Thats him) But how many and where the true imports (if that was them anyway)stopped and the rest of the great looking local Javas started was anyones guess, including mine.haha The best looking birds(Javas) to me anyway were on that same row. He also had a coupla nice males in the big flight pen with the turkeys and the big covered roost. Now the row with the charchoals and peach had one really nice trio of Javas( two boys one girl) as well. The herd of this years baby Javas in that one pen all looked good as well of course .He had way more greens or mixed with greens than the Indian blues and all their varieties . I guess Josh knows his birds and has his system for identifying them but I dont have the slightest clue on how he tells whats what out of all the other birds in all those grow out pens. I didnt see the first band on none of the grow out birds including that fine looking herd of young Javas. So whos the babies Daddy out of that wad of what 20ish? You tell me. LOL! And telling which were the sub-species greens out of all those adult Javas ???!!! Get outta town! Honestly. If he would said the one pen(outta three) with mainly males(Closest to Bob Sikes road thats the road you came in on) with the bird with no crest and crooked toe was the pen of imports I would have had to agree with him. My hats off to you if you nailed most Alea because there wasnt no way in hades I could. I do now know that when I go to pick up the female bird or birds I will have him do a walk thru to tell me whats what in the way of the pure java looking birds anyway. Because now I really want to know which are the sub-species .Which are the Americans ?Which are the Imports? Yes I had good ideas on what some were but wouldnt bet the ole soul on what was what. When I do it Ill post the pics here of whats what. I would be happy with any of em.
