Show off your Peas!

So now you're saying Thor is female? If so, I think you need to edit your sig, 'cause it still says "Thor is male I know how to sex peafowl".

Tail feathers aren't in the shape of a peahen.

Look at the tail feathers of them standing side by side. They don't look similar.

The cheek has color.

She's been putting a lot of attention to this whole.

This would explain why old Calypso picked on old Thor, because Thor was really a female and Calypso was really a male.

I see *zero* barring, which I think one would see in a spalding. Hopefully some with a spalding the same age will post a picture.

Thor turned out to be a girl and Calypso turned out to be a boy. I had their sexes backwards.

Are you sure? So Calypso now looks like these guys? These are my 10 month old spalding boys, "Chirpy" & "Mojo". These boys are already taller than my mature Blue males.

Please explain all the tan edging on those breast feathers.

That is a female only trait. Look at Chirpy's breast feathers.
You have 3 hens and 1 male, which is a perfect ratio. I don't know why you insist this isn't the case. I wish I had 3 hens for each of my males, but I don't. I have some very lonely boys here.

Birdrain92, you are still VERY WRONG. Okay, you may think she is interested in the hole, but she will most likely not lay. Most of us people that keep our birds penned get eggs from yearlings. You have two hens. DylansMom showed great pictures to compare. Good thing I took tail pictures of my spalding hen, and I will find them and post them.

DylansMom your spaldings definitely look half and half. Those neck feathers are amazing!!!

I agree about the chest feathers being too peahen to be a peacock. Also the back is still rounded brown back feathers.

You are sort of comparing an apple to an orange. You can't compare the old Thor's features with the new Thor's. The original Thor might have a bit of green blood, but certainly not as much as the new Thor. You just can't compare a spalding to a very low % spalding. Green peahens have longer tails and immature green peacocks do look like immature green peahens. Spalding peahens can have green edging on their train or have an all green train. Green peahens also have barring on their train and tail.

Green peahen:

Spalding peahen that looks like Thor 2:

Found a photo titled "Peahens in the snow" from Louden Farm's blog. Notice the second bird going from left to right and also the peahen on the far right. Both very colorful birds, but both are HENS.

Birdrain92, I think that hole is just a very nice dust bathing hole at this point. Every one of my pens has one, even the ones with all males in them.
