I have four hatchlings from the pen with this hen hatch out yesterday, I will post pics soon. This young cock is not the dominate cock in that pen, a Pied White Eye is the probable daddy. I have one that is white, (Yay, I got a white, I got a white!), a probable Loud Pied, white wings and dark body, and two that look like a normal IB.

No I do not think your male in that pic will be a loud pied. Dylansmom,your male in post #4007 I do not consider a loud pied either.I think the word "Loud" in reference to Peacocks means "stand out" or really noticable. Granted bssp peacocks also have 100% white eyes but it's the pigment of the rest of the train that determines if the eyes themselves stand out-ie "Loud" or blend in with the entire train sych as IB birds. I'm fortunate enough to have 2 bssp males,one of which has green in his train for the most part,the other Roadtrip has an all white train. I also consider males that have 100% white eyes only eligible to be considered as "Loud",,some pied males with only one copy of white may only have a few white eyes visible in their entire tail.

So you are saying that only one of your BSSP birds is a loud pied? I have never before heard anyone say that a bird had to have all white eyes to qualify as a loud pied. I remember several people posting pics of birds that were said to be loud pied and many of those did not have all white eyes. Is this actually a definition of a loud pied or is this just your opinion of what a loud pied is? And what about the body, you do not mention that at all, everything seems to be based on the train alone, if that is the case, what is the difference between a loud pied and a dark pied white eye?

Dark Pied use as PHENOTYPE = Pied with no much white feathers .... looks dark !
Dark Pied as GENOTYPE = this bird has 2 genes Pied in his genotype profil .

I am generally in agreement with Dany12. I believe it is highly probable those birds are actually dark pied.

When I was at Mt Hope auction 2 years ago,the males that had colored trains with 100% w/e were all called "loud" pieds which makes sense because the eyes stand out at you visually. This male is a 100% BSSP 3 yr old named E-BAY is not related to my other bssp male named Roadtrip,

Both are beautiful peacocks but in my opinion E-Bay has much more eye appeal. Here is my IB Pied male which only has 4 w/eyes in his train and is 5 years old. You consider him a loud pied? There is a big diffrence between all 3 of these males eye and train color.

Okay, got ya. So if we are going to put our opinions out there, here's mine. I actually think a bird that has some white train feathers some white eye feathers and some normal green colored train feathers has more visual "Pop" than a bird that has all white eyes. I also think the loud has to include the body and wings as well, he has to be eye catching with that train all folded up and put away, a total package, so to speak. . So big bold splotches of white on head, body, wings and a multi-color train is loud to me. Genotype-wise I was told 1 white gene, 1 pied gene and only 1 copy white eye. As for your boys all are beautiful, but I would want to see pics with the trains folded to give a good opinion, from these pics, I would say # 3 does not have near enough white to be loud, and #2 may have too much, #1 is my pick for a loud although as I said, I lke to see some normal colored eyes in the train. JMO

I should also add that to my way of thinking the silver pied is different from the loud pied. I consider a bird with the silvering to be less showy than one who does not have the silvering. Lets face it.... that silvering dulls down the color, while it is unique looking it is nowhere near as colorful and showy as the full colored feathers on the wings and back of the bird. Gray (in IMO) just is not a loud, showy, visually stunning color on a Peacock.
