Show off your Peas!

My ducks do fine with them. Wood ducks will require a permit, so if you just want eye candy ducks and are not interested in breeding them consider mandarin ducks!

To all of you, check out this thread and the pictures I took at Sylvan Heights: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/914767/trip-to-sylvan-heights-bird-park

I've thought about mandarins, and may still get a pair down the road, but woodys have always been my favorite duck. I just love their look, and they're hard to hit when hunting so I have lots of respect for them as a hunter. As far as the permit goes, I'm good there. I got the required permit before I got my ring neck pheasants. Was just one permit here in IL, was pretty simple.

Beautiful ducks BTW!

You could go with Indian Runner ducks they are good layers and you can eat the eggs.

Not a big fan of their look, they just look awkward to me, like a weeble wobble thats about to fall down, haha! And I'm stubborn, know what I want blah blah hardheaded man yada yada therefore settle for nothing but woodys...

Plus, once the rest of my pullets get up and laying, I won't need any more eggs, lol, got about 50 hens & pullets altogether. I just was curious if there were disease issues like I was told.

I hope I reply to everyone's posts. If I don't just let me know.

I do sell them along with wood ducks in the fall time. PM me if you would like to place an order.

I believe the permit you have for ring necked pheasants is just a state permit. You will also be needing a federal permit specifically for migratory waterfowl.

Thanks for the comments about my ducks!

That makes sense. I'll have to look at the cost of the permit & go from there. Thanks for the info!! Just out of curiosity, how old are your mandarins & woodys when you sell them? Do you sell in male/female pairs? Thanks again!!!
