Show off your Peas!

Well, wish I had pic, or even better, video, to go with this story because I really think something visual would help it be better appreciated but...we loaded the tractor onto the trailer to go do something for his uncle, & of course the peas were all over & under everything (tractor, trailer, truck). I head to the gate as he pulls down the drive...I look back & Patch is chasing (like jogging) the trailer down the driveway lol. I couldn't believe it. I was half afraid he might try to follow, but he didn't.
Meanwhile, here's another shot of him from yesterday.

I never worm and have never had a problem !

How often do you have fecals run at the vet? How many peafowl do you have? What other birds do you keep? What's your procedure when you bring in new birds? Ever have a necropsy done?

U may not have a problem now but u will in the future trust me worms and parasites can still live in the birds with out harming them for a certain time before they start to harm them

Well there's also a difference between not being aware of problems that you have versus not having any. De Nile isn't just a river in Egypt :-D

I never worm and have never had a problem !

I know of two other people, one is a close friend, and the other is a neighbor who does not worm either. My friend adds DE to his feed, I call that 'fairy dust', but both of them have one more thing in common, their birds die. Neither one of them are concerned about losses and don't try to find out cause of death.

It is true that the birds can live with a certain amount of worm load, but stress will trigger that load enough to kill the bird at some point.

Sometimes if you worm them too often it makes it easier for them to be killed when there is that one worm that survives the worming. That's like a germaphobe that keeps themselves very clean that it seems they wouldn't get sick but their immune system is down and when they get hit with something they didn't expect they get hit harder then ever before. Some people are able to hit that in between area were they might need a little boost every now and then but they can be able to handle it themselves. A city in Idaho has peafowl that are feral that have no human interaction they just run around the city and they seem to thrive. Sure there is mostly likely the few that die do to predator, disease, or parasite but those that do live are stronger and sometimes don't need the assistance.
