wondering .....i see some males with long trains and some with short trains....is this because of age or feed...my ib male is supposed to be an older male like 4-6 years old....i just think his train should be longer...

Genetics IMO my I was so amazed at how long and full my oldest males train was before the age of 3 now he is almost 5 and it is pretty much the same but some of my other males coming 3 have twice the thickness and about 6 inch's longer than my oldest male.

Diet effects feather condition not feather length

unless they are broken off because they are brittle and tattered from lack of condition.

All of these males are the same age they are a 2012 hatch notice the difference in the train volume ,

I called the peafowl lady that I'm going to get White peafowl from. She told me that for a full grown adult pair it's $300. For peachicks that she will have next month it will be $40 each. She said the $300 for adults was her lowering her price since I'm young. She said that her adults are so tame that they would jump up on me wanting treats if I were to go into the pen when I go to buy them. I'm kind of on the fence on should I go for the adults or chicks. The chicks are cheap enough but of course there's no guarantee on the sex. While the adults there is a guarantee.

You could ask her if she would be willing to have them DNA sexed, but you would have to pay for that.

If you have a good relationship with her, you could offer to pay for a DNA sexing. It costs $7.00 per bird and all you have to do is get her to clip a toenail and get 1 drop of blood on a sample card, which you then mail to the lab. I used this service last fall and was so pleased, I ordered a dozen sample cards for myself for this season.

PS. Ordering the cards costs nothing.
