Show off your Pigeons and Doves

I'm new here, but just wanted to share a few pics of my Trentons. I'll have to take some new pics someday (that is if the weather ever gets any nicer haha)View attachment 1330502 View attachment 1330503 View attachment 1330504 View attachment 1330505 View attachment 1330506 View attachment 1330507 View attachment 1330509 View attachment 1330510
I just read up a bit about the Trenton strain. There is a long history there! :D Very nice birds - do you race?

Yes, long history and wonderful birds. I don't race anymore. My interest was always long distance old bird racing, but in my area they don't fly it anymore. Only a few guys fly old birds now, and only go out to 400 miles. Don't much care to race young birds or sprint races. Nowadays I only keep my homers for my own pleasure. I still fly and train them on my own so I know I am still breeding from good birds (I don't breed from them till they prove they can home from 500 miles), but no more competitive racing for me.

This is my mixed pair (my first photos I posted are some their offspring) the male is the white and the female is the brown. I’m thinking the female is some generation of king pigeon as she is a large bird and has small wings compared to my other pigeons. I’m not too sure about the male though, he looks to me like a cross. By the way everyone has some very nice photos of their birds :wee
He looks like he could have danzig highflyer in him! They have big lovely tails like that.

I have another pair sitting on eggs! :clap
This is my 2015 hen Chenoa..

this is Awendola, very late 2017 hatch.

Chenoa appears to be in charge as it's only 8:30am and she is already on break...lol. Chepi is having to wait til almost noon for her lazy mate to relieve her for a measly 3-4 hour break!:barnie

They didn't build a nest much in that bowl?

Your birds look great. Healthy and happy!

They were doing very poorly with the nest building - mainly strewing the tobacco stems about the loft - so I built some very good nests for them!
:gig

Mine do that as well. I noticed if I just kept organizing the tobacco stems into piles after they make a mess, they eventually figure it out and build very nice nests. But yes, their initial reaction is to make a mess of them.

More of my fantail mutts! I'm really loving this pair's most recent squab. Very pretty coloring, almost like a liver chestnut color.

Apologies to @Quacking Pigeon for straying from the topic but I have an update on the 'pair'.
I had a suspicion so this morning I pushed Chenoa aside and saw 3eggs. Although my first thought was 'Houston - We have a problem.' lol. I was not real surprised because I had thought all along that Awendola was a hen and because yesterday she looked like she had an egg coming. Also explains her diligence in sitting - Chenoa had to shove her out of the nest in order to lay her second egg(i should have marked them so i could tell who laid what jic something hatched?) Anyway, I'm pretty sure Awendola has another egg coming...

I'm wondering how I should handle this? ... Hoping for some advice.

ps I previously posted somewhere that I was hoping for same sex pairs for harmony and population control. I was, just not NOW! I need some babies!

Getting excited when I will begin having fantail mutts again. All ready got two, one’s white and the other is red like my mixed pair males. My blue bar fantail hen has paired up with one of my new homing pigeons. They are still in quarantine, but when I move them into the loft in 2 weeks they will hopefully begin to nest. (Don’t have any photos of them yet)

I also got 2 other new pigeons one that is a red High-flyer of some sort and the other is a white male with red bar wings. I put two of my unpaired Hens from my loft with the quarantined birds so they could pair up, and because of that they have to stay in quarantine as long as the others.

The crested white (is a hen from my loft) and the white male are maybe pairing up, but they aren’t as bonded as my fantail and the checker male.
