That sounds like paradise unfortunately I think it would be very complicated to have so many coops haha
It can be, especially right now in winter where I have about a million waterers to bust ice out of and refill every day, sometimes twice a day!

Yes I agree they’re worth itIt can be, especially right now in winter where I have about a million waterers to bust ice out of and refill every day, sometimes twice a day!But I couldn't see these boys go to the freezer, mine or someone else's, and it's pretty hard to find good homes for roosters around here, so I figure it's worth it to know they're safe and happy.

And Yellow, the first cull -- who is a not a good Australorp at all, but who has the prettiest tail ever seen on a cockerel of his age.

The rooster on the right (last picture) looks a lot like my old rooster. He is dead now. I kind of miss him.Head rooster Stilton, a.k.a. Stiltz, a.k.a. Stilty B. Purchased as a day-old Easter Egger pullet, instead we got a vigilant, friendly rooster. He's kinda scrappy and doesn't tolerate other males, but he's good with hens and humans...as long as you're not on the phone. He'll crow incessantly and kick your feet.

I made him this "crowbar" between 2 trees. It's the first place he runs every morning after he talks and dances at the hens coming down the ramp.

These photos are from June; I'm missing that lush, green landscape as I prepare to melt open coop locks in a minute.

Checking out snow for the first time. You can see them conferring about what on earth that cold, crunchy stuff is.

Goliath is a large easter egger brahma mix. He is 7 months old. He is over 28" tall)
Butterbean is his half brother (also a brahma mix) and is much smaller. Probably around 8lbs.
Doris is the father of both. He is from a blue orpington x blue ameraucana mix. He is around 25 to 26" tall and weighs 12 lbs.
I love big, friendly roosters.
This is the rooster I was talking about: Very sweet, 13+ years old, and had like 2 inch spurs. The rooster on the right (last picture) looks a lot like my old rooster. He is dead now. I kind of miss him.
