My RIR rooster, Atlas. He’ll be 1 year old this spring. I’ve never been able to keep a rooster before and I’m honestly loving him 🥰 He’s super protective of the girls but fine with me, and he keeps my drakes away from my (chicken) hens, so everyone finally has a full plumage again

Yes, I unfortunately lost him.I had to leave my flock for a sudden forest fire evacuation, I had 3 hours notice and I couldn't think of a way to take them (9 hens and Bruce) with me. I figured the smoke would kill them before the fire, but I filled water and feed and prayed for the best.
They would had likely been fine if the elk hadn't tore through my fencing. :/
I had a neighbor give me $50 for new chickens because she missed my rooster crowing. I'm actually hoping on getting another this year but I don't know if I can luck out again. He was such a good boy.
