Show Quality Booted Bantams *Update: Lots of Pics pg. 3*

Ok, you have to breed him to your black pullet. Would that give you half blue/half black or just darker blue chicks. I think probably darker blue chicks. I really want some blues. I have some self blues, but I love the darker blue color.
My dark millie, unfortunately I only have him. But I have a millie hen who is a darker color also, darker than all of my others. I'll see if I can get a pic of her. She is with him in a breeding pen right now along with other millie and self blue hens. I've got some of their eggs under a couple of cochin hens right now, but I'm just not getting many eggs from them. I would love more like him.
Cthrash, thanks, I really like him too. I got him from someone in Houston a few months back. Wish I would have gotten more, but he was all she had. She called his color Mahogany, but I think Mahogany is a much darker color. Not sure, but I love his color.
Jane, maybe we can trade eggs later , or chicks, if you get some blues.

keep an eye onthe legs. Looks like there could be an onset of leg mites or just dry legs. Also, I do not ever remember seeing booted being shown. d'Uccles yes, but never booted. The reason may be they have little or no chance of beating the other breeds in their class. Still, keep birds you like and have fun with them. As I have quoted, "Beauty is altogether in the eye of the beholder"

Msbear, you do a fantastic job on those signs

If you are interested, in the spring, I would be willing to trade Hamburg eggs for a sign for my little farm!

(sorry for going off topic

Moduckman, the reasomn you do not see many booted bantams is they are EXTREMELY RARE......you can`t find them at any hatchery and only a few people have them...they can come in all they colors that D`Uccles come in and are very popular in their native Holland. I know of only about 6 breeders nationwide....so they just do not have the numbers thet the D`Uccles have....but they are gorgeous!!!!! Here is a pic of my Millie Roo ...I also have porcelean and will have whites soon......Jane/Cedaridge Farm

Having so few breeders explains why I have not seen any and is another reason why they may not have success in shows. You see, many poultry judges are hesitant to place breeds and varieties with few numbers shown and the fact they may not see many in shows, will more than likely pick a single comb clean legged bird breed they are familiar with.

VERY TRUE, WE SEE IT ALL THE TIME WHEN SOLID WHITE OR BLACK COMMON BREED BIRDS WIN OVER BIRDS WHO ARE LOVELY BREED TYPE, BUT ONLY 2 OR 3 SHOWN......

I can't believe i missed a bunch of this thread! My daughter has a pair of beautiful porcelian d'uccles and she has been successful with breeding them. the rooster always places high. At the APA nationals he got best variety. I really would LOVE some golden necked d'uccles!!! I post pics of the porcelians as soon as I can.
