show quality speckled sussex ??

[COLOR=800080]I really can not say much on this hen.  Her color looks better than the first prior hen BUT there are not any profile pictures that I can see her shape in.[/COLOR]

I'll see if I can find pictures of her from the show I took her to. My Sussex look rough at the moment. They think they need to molt.

Were these chicks light yellow ???? Why are there 2 different color patterns in the chicks ?? The yellow & the chipmunk. I had a dozen yellow chicks last year, but unfortunately lost them in a barn fire.

I wish I knew why there are two different patterns. The breeder I got my chicks from said he gets both color patterns, however the better colored adult birds usually come from the buff colored birds with the chipmunk face patterning. This chick was buff colored as shown on its head.

We will have to count on some of the more knowledgeable breeders to answer - WHY ? ?? Perhaps, Don or Karen can chime in with some thoughts on this subject.
