show quality speckled sussex ??

Last batch start critiquing!

Poor jealous pets! Emile and Marlo, don't they look neglected!!!

This is Orange #80, I think that she is the broadest down her back.

She received red, second place, behind my other pullet at Cowlitz County

At Southwest WA Fair she got Blue, BV and BB

From Western WA State Fair she received a red, second place out of 3 pullets. Beat out by my other pullet.

Orange #80 the end. Maybe I should try to get a few of the little cockerel that didn't grow so well. I'd say he had a "crow" head and way too much white. I'll see if my brother can help me get a few more photos. These were all taken last Friday when the chicks were all about 24 weeks of age. They are all from the same breeding/pen except #78 as per their toe punches.

Beautiful birds! I've got Meyer's Hatchery birds, and would love some good ones.. I fell in love with their looks, type, and temperment two years age with my first hen, and would love to find some chicks or eggs in spring. I'm not interested in showing, but want good birds. Mary

cowchick11 - THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for taking the time to post the pics...

There appears to be a huge difference in the butt fluff coloring between Orange 78 and Orange 81 ( The first two pullets).... Which is the better coloring for meeting the sop?

Cowchick11, my SS are 20 weeks old. Since mine are right behind yours in age, I would be interested in comparing weights.
Do you think you could weigh a couple of you biggest cockerels and pullets and let me know how much they are weighing in at?

My chicks are from Walt Reichert and I would like to compare their size to Tony's lines.

HEEE heee, we would all like to see a comparison for educational purposes. Thank you for posting so many of your birds. Nice to be able to compare and look at my own with a better eye.

#78 is more correct, fluff should be slaty brown and undercolor of all sections slate, shading to salmon, the salmon shading to light gray at base. I took all that out of the SOP for Speckled Sussx, color- female.

So, I was only able to get some jobs for one person done instead of the other ton of things I had planned because I actually got alot done yesterday home by myself. It will be Wed. before I can get to it but He Owes Me!!!

I only have one other cockerel left, it is the little tiny one that did not grow well. I'll weigh him too just for giggles and maybe take photos.

Really critique away, I'm interested to hear thoughts on the wing colors and combs.

They look way different on a screen. Great for me to see too.

I may have to do this with my Lav Orp cockerels to help me decide which one gets to stay! As a photographer I could make a study out of these!!!
Math Ace, time for you to post photos!
