show quality speckled sussex ??

Hi Cowchick

Do you still have your Blue 57 cockerel that you showed in pictures?

Are you going to be at the PNPA show in Salem OR in October?

Nice patterns on your SS pullets. Did you get that stock from Tony Albritton?

Andy
Thank you everyone, still taking comments. We'll see what I get to as the week goes on, I think I have a head cold coming on.

mountainvieworchards, I still have that cockerel, his it the one I selected to keep for breeding as he has a nice form and very little white. Yes, I will be attending PNPA with him and the two pullets that I have been showing this summer along with several Orpingtons. I did get my stock from Tony and already plan to order from him again this coming year.

Hi Cowchick

I guess I misunderstood your post I thought you only had the smaller rooster.

I will look for you and your birds in Salem, I am looking forward to seeing some of TA stock up close. I will be there with my kids, but we won't be showing any SS this fall, we are still working on our type. I have a very promising cockerel but his is still growing, maybe this spring show for him. This show comes at a bad time for many of my older birds, they are either molting right now or getting ready to, so I am only bringing pullets of other breeds.

Andy, Most of mine are young animals too, this year's hatching. I am only bringing one hen as she is a very late molter. She is not in the best of shape but her condition compared to the others that are dropping feathers every min. is not comparable.
I'm short and have dark red hair, just introduce yourself and lets talk at the show!

Yes, most of mine had white chests at that age.
I have to spew a little bit. I came home from being at work for two days and my brother says "you need to check Tiny". That is the little SS roo that didn't grow so well. That phrase usually indicates an injury at our house. I asked what happened and he says he has been hiding under the little roost for two days. There is very little room under that little roost. He said he pulled him out today and got him over by the food. Not the water, the food. I go out to look and Tiny is running around happy as a clam and my show roo that I'm keeping for breeding is laying beside the feeder trying to eat.

One how do they not know which one is Tiny at this point? He is still the smallest one! If a chicken on our place doesn't come out at feeding time you check it weather it was Tiny or not!!! How does my show roo even look like Tiny???!!!??? I put my show guy, AKA Blue 57, over buy the water and he sat up more and drank. He looked a little bit perkier when I came in. I'm going to go back out and check on him again before I go to bed. Took the roost out in discust and cleared out some other non-essentials until I can work on it this weekend. Let me just say again

!!! I hope he is doing better in the morning. Thanks in advance for letting me spew a little bit!

Still alive acting a little perkier. Separated out from the other as he did make it through the night. Wanted to make sure he wanted to eat and drink. Takes in a lot of water with electrolites when I go over and talk to him. Hope he keeps improving.
