Show us your clothes line

Our clothesline died when the tree came down last September. Oh yea, so did the car.

DH used 2 treated 4x4s (bought) and 2 pieces of treated 2x4s that we had laying around. The rope was $1 at the Dollar General. We used 1 bag of concrete that you just mix with water and stir then put in the hole. The only other thing we bought was two 5" bolts and 2 washers to hold the 2x4s onto the 4x4s. He also made two wooden things that tighten the rope when it starts to sag. I'll post pics of that tomorrow if you'd like to see those. I think the whole thing cost $20 and a couple of hours.

I have to make do with the folding racks indoors. Occasionally I will put it out for a few hours, but we have a problem other than wind and rain. There is this sickly yellow green powder that covers EVERYTHING. It is called pollen. Our allergies are bad enough as it is. That last thing I want to do is coat all our clothes and bedding with pollen.

I have a great tip for drying indoors- use the hot water heater. We have ours in a closet that is part closet (with shelf and clothes rack). The top of the closet opens into the laundry room so the evaporated water has a place to go. We keep our boating and snorkling gear in there.

We get pollen really bad here too but we're used to it and allergies aren't a problem. Luckily the rain washed most of it away. If our clothes are on the line for about an hour or two they don't have a bit of pollen on them. If they were left out for days then yes.

throw a net over the lineand bury the ends in the ground/anchor and tie off two ends for a quick run in an emergency.

Yeah but for those few months it is worth it! Plus the house doesn't get so hot running the dryer, because it is usually July and August we get no rain!

y'all have neat clotheslines. I tried a metal one and that didn't work very well. I'll have to see about a wooden one.

I love how clothes smell hung out on the line.
