Show your Amerauacana~Araucana, EE's, or mutts with either in them...

Cynthia, thanks, she is pure white. I got two pure white girls Yeti in the pic w/ the smaller comb, and Yeta has the larger comb. Yeta isn't my prettiest chicken, but she has an awesome personality. She follows me like a puppy, comes when called by name. I have to be sneaky if I'm going in the far back yard where the chickens are and I don't want Yeta to get out and stay w/ me. (like when I'm planting in the garden) b/c as soon as she knows I'm back there she is out of her run and w/ me.

Thanks! and, she laid a real pretty blue egg...not a green/blue, blue! I thought someone needed her more than I did at the time..
She did.
I have another EE also, that I can post later. She's a big girl. The normal brown looking EE..but I think she's really pretty. She lays a blue/green egg.

My shy little EE named Pheasant. She was about 5 months in this pic, the beard and muff have fluffed out a lot since then. At 8 months old, she is the only hen that still hasn't started laying eggs.

Isn't that discouraging? My blue girl hasn't started laying yet. Guess I expected her to start laying around 20 to 22 weeks like all the rest of my other birds. She's coming 23 weeks now I do believe. I hear that Ameraucanas can start late, and it looks like EE's too?! We just have to be patient.. Love the coloring of your girl! I have an EE I haven't posted yet that has some of that coloring in her, not as much black. Will have to get a picture of her... she is laying.

A nice green/blue egg. Hatched this spring too.

Thanks! Still patiently waiting for my first blue egg.

I got a great shot of her today that I had to share... she actually approached me, so maybe she's starting to warm up to people finally. I would like to see a pic of your girl that has similar markings. Are there any names for the color variations, or is it just considered a "mutt"?

Well, now that I have taken the picture, and see yours again, I can see that my girl is a lot lighter....more red. I have three pictures to share.

She has black in her though...

This is my favorite one of her... I got these pictures while she was inside the coop area, not outside with most of the others on the lawn.

And I do believe that ours are EE's, not the pure Ameraucana.... so yes, little muttskies...

Looking at all these pictures of Ameraucanas and EE...Im wondering, are they related? The two types look a lot a like and I can see why folks often think they own an Ameraucana when they actually have an EE.
It sure would be nice if someone could clarify the difference and possible relationship between these two types of chickens.
