This one popped up out of nowhere from one of my EE hens and a rooster that's also basically an EE... and I haven't seen anything like him since!

Ohhhhh WOW :love Please tell me you kept him?!

I wish I had. I really, really, REALLY wish I had. He did go to a good home though. But yes, I soooo wish I'd held on to him. I can only imagine how much prettier he got- that was around 4-5 months old if I remember right. There was a population explosion when every one of my eggs under every one of my broodies hatched within 2 weeks of each other. I do still have the parents. If his mom keeps laying (she's 4 years old and is raising babies right now) I'm going to set some more of her eggs.

Edited to add: The people who took him drove 2 hours to get here, then another 2 hours back. They were really excited.

Maaaay be time to dig up their contact information to ask for recent photos!

That would be amazing if the pair produced another bird like that! Genetics are astonishing... there are SO many possible combinations!

I know right!!! I'd have to hope there's an email stashed somewhere with a number. Hm. That will take some searching!

I hold little hope that I'd get anything close, but I do like to set eggs from my oldest productive hens. She's given me some pretty and productive daughters, including that rooster's full sister, (the hen, not the chick), much more like what I would expect.
