Showgirl thread- for posting pictures and discussing breed!

This is a chart I saved in my favorites. Not sure if it helps you.

Bowtie X Silkie = 50% Silkies, 50% Bowties
Bowtie X Bowtie = 25% Naked Necks, 50% Bowties, 25% Silkies
Bowtie X Naked Neck = 50% Bowties, 50% Naked Necks
Naked Neck X Silkie = 100% Bowties
Naked Neck X Naked Neck = 100% Naked Necks * with each generation you wil increase the "nakedness".

Note: Silkies produced from these matings will not carry the Show Girl gene. They will be 100% silkies and when bred to another silkie will only produce silkies.

thanks but she talking about beared and non beared silkies

I was being polite and ignoring it, I have that chart as well as the BBS combos committed to memory! Thanks though! I just never heard/read much on crossing bearded and non-bearded, I know throwing the SG roo in the mix was semi confusing.

Very excited about a showgirl babe hatched yesterday. I'm hoping it will survive. It had a hard time hatching. I heard it more than 24 hours before I found it, and it wasn't under the mom when I pulled it out. It had only been able to hatch one leg--may have hatched from the wrong end--but the shell was pretty mashed. I've been babying it and it is making good progress. Moves around normally and all, I've just not gotten it to eat on its own yet. I'm sure it was very tired and dehydrated at first, as it was almost limp.

It is a paint! I have a nice paint silkie pullet I got in Shawnee last December, but no others. She is in my all white pen, along with two white showgirl hens, a white silkie pullet, and a white showgirl cockerel. I knew three of them aren't "pure" whites, but they are completely white. It's hatch mates are what is probably a silver white silkie and a blue showgirl. They hatched on their own and are stronger. The white showgirl cockerel is the only male their mom has been exposed to. Although the paint pullet is the one that hatched the babes, the other eggs could have been laid by any of the three others. I didn't expect a paint; I thought the white would be dominant!

This babe isn't perfect; it has one toe too few and has patches of pink and black on its neck and body (kinda like a pinto), as well as two pink toes. But I'm super happy about this start; at least I know I can get paints from this cross!
