Showgirl thread- for posting pictures and discussing breed!

Mm ok so lol I have a straight feathered, 4 toed bow tie naked neck boy ( by the looks of it) that would make him 1st generation if I have understood the threads correctly, I was hoping that it was a hen but no such luck. So the ? Behind this ramble would be ...do I now need to put him back to pure silkie and hope for a 5 toe NN hen with the view to eventually breeding her with a silkie boy?? Phewew!!!!!

Definitely go back to a silkie. You are looking for bantam size, black skin, big black eyes, walnut comb if possible, 5 toes with good spacing, silkied feathers..

How many generations can I breed Showgirl to Showgirl before there are changes

If you breed showgirl to showgirl Its is very hard and would take many many generations to improve it so it is best to breed SG to a pure silkie because silkies have many genes to be added into the SG.
NN and Nn are only the gene for the Naked Neck the trait, Nn is the "recessive" form of the trait and it will express itself as a naked neck with a bigger bowtie and 1/2 of there babys will be Nn if bred to a non naked neck bird. NN is the full expression of the naked neck gene and will express as small or no bowtie. 100% of the babys form NN will be Nn if bred to a non naked neck bird. You can only make a NN by breeding 2 NN, or a NN to a Nn, or 2 Nn's. A Nn bred to an Nn will produce 25% NN. Naked neck is a domanant gene and the babys who do not show as naked necks do not carry the gene at all.

I'm going to study this!
I have a trio of birds, all with significant bowties. So they are Nns?
I have hatched 4 chicks so far, 3 chicks with bowties and 1 Silkie.
My Blue hen-

My rooster, I love his streamers

Yes they are likely Nn's. Most SG are Nn because people breed SG to pure silkies to improve them plue most people like a bigger bowtie. The non naked neck babys should not be sold as silkies as they are from a SG project. It's ok for them to be pets or for eggs but if people want to breed silkies tell them to get pure as these will often carry unwanted genes some of them hidden.

My Pet Breeding Idea. : } BANTAM SG ▬ NN.

the Standard NN Small Bows or Non Bows, Not an issue. since the end result is healthy Bantam sized SG.

1. Question : will breeding 2 yr old Bantam NN Hen ( only one ) to Pure Silky Cockerel be best, As I've tried and she refused All Advances from Roo.. .

2. Question : Breeding one of two SG Cockerels, with 2 yr old Bantam NN Hen be better?

I just got my first showgirls from MJ a week ago. They are the sweetest chicks I've ever seen. I thought I read somewhere that people are calling the show girls without bow ties strippers. Is that right? If so it is a cute play on words.

Strippers or chippers (for chipendales) is pretty common.

Well the showgirl I had went broody over 1 egg and I gave her to some friends that had bad luck with all of their birds being boys. Well she finally hatched her 1 egg. Looks like it's going to be a perfect mix of mom and dad and should be a great quality showgirl.
