My silkie rooster is now gone and I'm searching for a replacement blue splash but was wondering if I could get showgirl rooster instead? I do have three showgirl hens but dont want issues. Also, can I get a frizzle? I wouldnt be able to breed to daughters?

I personally would do Silkie to Showgirl. I've read that with several SG x SG matings the babies will have less and less feathers, so I would put a nice silkie boy on the SG hens to maintain silkie type and good feathering. If you are just breeding for pets and don't mind losing type and feathers then you can do SG x SG without any worries. I have some SGs and Silkies in blue/splash as well and I plan to keep at least 2 breeding pens of them. One for making just silkies with silkie x silkie and one or two for making SGs with SG x Silkie or Silkie x SG initially. Eventually I will just keep a couple of SG cockerels to put over Silkie hens that I breed from my silkie x silkie matings. I'm pretty sure I've read that SG cock bird over silkie hens helps maintain the dark skin.

I've done quite a bit of reading about Showgirls when I initially found out I would be getting some, but I don't know too much about the frizzles so hopefully someone will chime in here

I breed frizzled showgirls.

I have one pen with a frizzled blue silkie roo over my regular showgirl hens, then a pen with a regular silver silkie roo over my frizzled silkies and frizzled showgirls. If you breed the frizzles, just don't breed frizzle to frizzle or Naked neck to naked neck. The Frizzle X Frizzle gives you brittle feathers, the NN X NN gives you birds with balding feathers :D

The frustrating thing, is so many babies are not SG and not Frizzled...and you are going to get smooth feathered birds as well. So I guess it makes you appreciate it even more when you get a fantastic frizzle showgirl out of 10 chicks ;D
