Jen I loves the quality of these homozygous and the idea of getting 100% showgirls is very appealing. I think I already spoke with you about using Gaga and Edward together, but I do have some very nice pullets from Edwards I may just put back to him. Their pics are up on my Facebook which I think you already saw. I also have a very nice spash that was not photographed that day. I am still hoping to get a nice black sg male by putting my black sg's from Edward back to my black silkie. You going to the Crossroads of America Poultry Show by chance or Shawnee this year? I am hoping to make one or both.

I don't know anyone using nonbearded silkies to make showgirls.

I know of people using bearded silkies to raise showgirls some of which may not display beards. If they were using non bearded silkies I would expect much more wattle. If you want no chinstrap or 'beard' you might want to consider homozygous, however these will also not have a bowtie. Heterozygotes can vary in how they express the NN gene, with the same pair producing silkies, showgirls with 'beards', and showgirls lacking 'beards'. This has been my experience in the whites, blues, and blacks.

Hello! New to this thread and thought I'd see what you all thought about our showgirls!

I think I am sold on those birds. Where can I locate a breeder? I have to build some sturdy pens first since I am having problems with predators but if I buy eggs, I will have plenty of time to get them built for when the chicks are old enough to go outside.
