Thanks! I actually think one of my silkie mix chicks has these but I didn't realize that is what they were. I will have to try to get a picture of the chick. I am assuming it is not good to have these for like silkie or shwgirl. Do any problems happen with them and why do they get them?
Thanks! I never heard of this before!

Thanks! I just never seen this and noticed my chick had these funky feathers. I am glad this was brought up!!!

I just candles my first batch of eggs for the season (late start I know) and all are growing!!!! I am hatching from a new trio right now my keeper from last fall lavender showgirl roo and my two best black silkie hens! These should be the best as far as type goes so far! I chose to put him over my best black hens since they are better quality than my lavender hens. Gotta build the barn before you paint it!

Anyways, since my gators are filled with those eggs and some black and lav eggs from kelar, I have no room for my BBS showgirl eggs so I just listed my first auction for them on here! The listing is for 8+ but I am sure there will be way more than that to ship Monday!

Beautiful birds Rilly! Wish you were closer in this heat.

Is there anyone that breeds Showgirls in Missouri or surrounding states? I would like to buy some eggs from someone who has double gened stock, so I can get some of each type. Colors in Buff, BBS, White preferred. Please PM me if you have some available, thank you.

Thanks so much Debbie! I love them

My chicks are now 2 weeks old, and I thought I was seeing vulture hocks! I went and checked the past posts on the subject, and according to Sonoran, if they aren't "hard" feathers pointing down, they are ok. Here is another link to the same post with a picture. This is what a few of mine look like, and it seems to be on the biggest chicks, maybe because they are growing/feathering in faster? Any way, I was relieved!

Wish I had known about the soft vulture hocks last year. I sold my breeding stock because they exhibited this trait at about 3-4 mo. I considered it a serious fault, and since all of them had it, they were sold. Sure sorry about it too. Looking to get back into showgirls.

Homozygous can be beautiful. I took some photos of a homozygous showgirl breeding pen at Sheryl Butlers while visiting her last week. These birds are way out of condition, are breeding, and are dirty but you can still see the quality. With good showgirls, showgirl to showgirl breeding can create some impressive homozygous- especially useful to breed back to silkies for 100% showgirl offspring.

Best AOV showgirl at the Western Silkie National was one of Sheryl Butler's homozygous girls... in condition, bathed, and looking fantastic. If you have good showgirls, use this late part of the season to throw a few showgirls together and try hatching some- you might be pleasantly surprised at what you get.

Just wanted to ask all you showgirl breeders,

What do you all think of the Bow Tie On a Showgirl ???

Are they suppose to have the bow tie ? or are they suppose to be like Pure N-Necks & not have the bow tie ?

The Reason I ask Is I am New to the Breed,

I have 3 whites & Non Have The Bow Tie, I am told they should pretty much be a naked Neck, but with silkie feathers, Skin & toes.

Is there a Showgirl Breed standard ?
