I've tried....sometimes I have an overflow of eggs so I'll put eggs in the "for consumption" basket, then I'll start thinking...good God, that could be my lav showgirl! Pull them right out again!

That's why I have multiple incubators!!

I love this thread!! I am looking for some straight black showgirl hens and silkie hens......my daughter wants to show them. Where would you guys reccommend me finding any? I've had the hardest time finding any for sale! I just want regular black.

I have three black showgirl hens/pullets, and could probably sell you one. I also have several black silkie hens and pullets. We're located about 30 miles west of Tulsa.

Hey Betsy if chickenpox dosn't buy then all I would LOVE one or two! I am focusing on my blacks this year!

Oh and about not being able to eat them....I can't either! I am up to 4 incubators!!! 2 Brinsea minis and 2 hovabators!!! I have totally lost it! LOL!

My best solution to not being able to eat the eggs (I can't either) is to have most of my hens in together with NO roos. I find I can also put up to 12 roos (haven't tried more) in a fairly large pen with no hens, and they get along pretty well. Occasional pecking order issues, but no injuries in the couple of years I've been doing it. Still don't usually eat the infertile eggs, but hard-boil them and add them to the chicken's feed. I usually only keep roos in with the hens in pens I really want chicks.
