Has anyone used a duck for poultry showmanship? I've only used chickens up 'til now, but I recently traded all my chickens for ducks, and I'll be doing showmanship with one of my new ducks at a show I'm attending in a month. So my question is: Is there anything different I need to do by using a duck? Is there a "correct" way to hold a duck?

I don't know about duck showmanship. Ducks aren't usually taken out of their pens except for the Runners. The judge wants to see the Runners move, so they are taken to a pen where they are moved around. If nothing else, showmanship for Runners would be different than for chickens.

There must be rules for the showmanship class written down somewhere. I suggest you get out the rules and see if there is anything in there that would eliminate ducks. Just because it is "not done" doesn't mean you can't do it as long as the rules allow it.

I would be using a bird that isn't entered in the show (because showmanship and judging are done simultaneously).
