Shrink wrapped ducks?? What should I do?

drooling sounds like heat? could he have had a heat stroke? The brooder temp should be around 90 aren't they almost a week old? Wait you have the older ones in there, well I think the older ones will be OK try keeping it at 90
If there is enough area for them to move around to self-regulate(under lamp when cold, move away when hot) would that prevent heat stroke?

Let me add pools are usless in the winter time, they just freeze up. So you get a every day break from that. LOL However there drinking water you will have to bring in and thaw out and give them fresh clean water. Probably should invest in a water heater, you can make one or purchase one they are a little expensive to buy.

Our winters get really bad that I have to use a heating light, sometimes I will use two of them.
Cracking up reading this...in calif we have NO SEASONs...so no worries about anything but heat. ALHmama said she had rain for 3 days and I was soooooo jealous. No rain here for months!

Lacrystol do you think ALHmama should put chicken wire around. Im trying to envision it. I dont think she should free range in the by because they are vulnerable... Thoughts
If she does it would be SOOO easy to do because she's got that other fence up. She could use that as part of the enclosure then take chicken wire from that fence make an L shape to the other side so that the house will look like it's in a square.

half with wood fencing and one side and the front with chicken wire. shell just need Two poles in the front corner of the house so she can make the L shape to the other side of the wood fence and a door to get in and out,

half the work is already done for her. LOL

Yeh she may want to get two separate bins one for the older ones and one for the youngsters.. They grow so fast it would be easy for the older ones to trample anyone. but definitely they need to be able to get to a cool spot and it the older ones are hoggin up that spot, where are the others going? right under that heat... yek

Ok...so Bantam Cochin keeps trying to go broody, but not regularly or staying on the nest yet. Yesterday, she got off after a couple hours, but today she is still setting and doing the broody...LEAVE ME ALONE...behaviors. How long do I wait before I consider putting eggs under her?
