Just a note--I have had chicks that have had problems standing up and I have cut a section of an egg carton out(make sure you have enough of the carton for it to be stable, like maybe half if your hatcher has room) and nest the chick in one of the egg hole/spaces. This make the chick work his legs to get out. For some reason by the time they get out they seem to be OK. Make sure the chicks legs are down below him when you put him in the carton. This does not always work but I have had good results. Makes them use their legs. Works very well is I have to pull a chick out of a shell.
