Can anyone suggest something I can put on the shoe of one duckling that will stop the others from pulling on it's leg? I bought some ducklings yesterday and had to drive 2 hours one way to pick up. No choice on picking them out myself. The ducklings are 5 days old. One has bad curling on one foot. I changed the feed from what the other owner was feeding chicken layer and scratch to All flock and niacin in the water and added a shoe. Mealworms for treats. This second shoe is staying on yay but now the other ducklings have taken to pulling on the shoe and pulling the leg of the duckling wearing it. I don't have any No Pick and need ideas of making it taste bad so the other ducklings stop pulling it.

Thanks Barb

Can you separate your brooder so the one with the shoes is separated from the others but they can all still see each other.

If mine I'd pick up some Liquid b complex for this little one so it can get help quicker from all the B's. 1 ml if you get from TSC in the cattle dept. Or 3ml if you buy human this is daily.

Thanks everyone for replying. I ended up putting a shoe on and left it on for a couple of days, then took it off. The foot flattened out and things seem to be going ok.
I have the ducklings swimming and spend time outdoors every day so the one duckling can use the foot and relearn to walk more normal. The foot does seem smaller than the other one but I don't care as long as the duckling can live a somewhat normal life and be able to perch with the other ducks.
