I want to order a small amount of chicks from meyer soon, probably only 4. i have seen to very interesting looking breeds that are almost the same other than their combs. sadly, i have to choose one of the two female chicks. so, i was just wondering what the behavioral difference is and which would make a better chicken and pet? Thanks

I have never kept eather one but I want to order some golden campine soon.

yeah they are very pretty. i have to chose wisely though because i don't imagine me ordering again shipping is just so expensive and the wait is painful i'm sure .

We always keep a Buttercup or two just because they are so pretty. Their combs are awesome, and the birds are quick and slender. They are very small for a large fowl breed, and are only fair layers of medium size slightly-tinted eggs. Our Buttercups are not friendly birds, however--and indeed, the breed is known to be flighty. They live quite happily in our mixed flock that includes many breeds, including Barred Rocks.

I've never had a Campine, so I can't compare them for you, sorry.

well, i do love their combs.i'm sure it depends on how much time is spent with them and all birds have different personalities. if they are on the smaller size i may be able to squeeze both into my flock. thank you all for the help.
