Sick 11 week old chick

Sand to me is fine..I'm not thinking thick rock like sand.
Yes that is fine. Sorry.

I would make sure she is getting enough water and eating before I put her back out.
Electrolytes and maybe some Nutri Drench too.

This morning she is worse. She refuses to eat or drink, I've tried everything all her favorites and nothing. I did the water with a qtip but she doesn't really swallow anything. She doesn't want to stand now.

I put her out with her friends in the run but I left her in the tub. I was hoping she was just unhappy being indoors in a new scary location all alone but she's not perking up out there either.

She did poop all night, all bright neon green starvation poops. :(

I don't like to give up but I fear she's suffering. Should I just keep qtip and watering her or should I cull her? I hate to see them suffering.

She has since passed away, what a bummer. I wanted to take her for a necropsy but they charge $300! So that's not happening. :(

This is my first loss and it really seemed like she was traumatized from the sudden change of sleeping in a coop, as crazy as that sounds. Everyone else is still healthy and happy.

Yes, called 2 vets and they wouldn't do chickens. Then I called the local animal hospital which charges $300. Bummer.

Check with your state Department of Agriculture website for a state run lab. I had a necroposy run for free, there is a $25 disposal fee plus the cost to overnight ship it on dry ice. I am in Tennessee and it was $20 to UPS to Nashville.
All the vet labs I called said it would be $300 as well. All states should have such a service i believe for farms. (

Yes....I agree.

Thanks very much for everyone's information and help. This is a great idea, I will look into it. Thanks again!

I actually went to go look for a post for you earlier with this info and got side tracked.
