Sick after cleaning coop?

You would know for sure cause you have to know who you were with to get covid. But seriously, go see a doctor before it becomes a life long disability that you won't recover from.

Contracting diseases from coops is normal especially if you don't maintain the cleanliness of it. It just take a mixture of waste, materials, and time for things to grow and spread.

Make a standard practice to protect yourself while doing chicken chores and coop cleaning.

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're ill! I used deep litter in my coop for a while, forgot a mask once, ended up inhaling zeolite/shavings/DE/poop dust and feeling horrible for about a week. Very hoarse, dry throat, raspy, deep coughing, that same taste when I coughed. It ended up going away by itself very slowly, but yours sounds much more serious. I also have a small coop. I'd go to the doctor ASAP- that indeed does not sound like COVID.
that sounds horrible! glad you recovered. I never really worried about this once it started getting better, but the sudden pain i'm getting rn is what made me make this post. my step father had covid, so I've seen what it's like and I know what I'm dealing with atm is very different. I just found out I have a doctors appointment for monday, so I will mention it then

I would call a doctor too ASAP! Pneumonia can get really dangerous if it isn’t treated. And ask if it’s wise to test for COVID too. Just to be sure.
I recently tested negative for Covid right before this happened. I don't know much about the severity of all these illnesses so I will definitely mention it to my doc Monday

We've always had trouble keeping it clean because it floods a lot (florida rains). So we just throw hay over it. With the season it's been better but the layers of hay underneath are still damp. I managed to change my moms mind about the Covid idea because I showed her what I posted on here. I have a doc appointment Monday so I will mention this then.

I actually just made a natural spray to sanitize the coop and I sprayed it around after getting the rest of the hay out + sprinkled diatomaceous earth. I figured that I won't keep hay in there for now since the weather has been good. Everythings dry now, but next time I am definitely going to protect myself more
