so,i bought a quail yesterday...and it was acting normally...it ate a lot, drank water and it was running around so it seemed healthy to me...it was acting like that until this morning,it wont walk or stand up now and it seems to have some breathing troubles at times, but all it does now is just lay on my hand with its eyes closed...
i have no idea why it became like this so suddenly since i made sure to keep it warm and dry and feed it right and at any time it was hungry so i could say i took good care of it therefore i have no idea why it became all lethargic like this...
can someone please tell me what is wrong with this little quail and if there is a possible solution to the problems its having???
itd really mean a lot to me cuz its the only quail i have...!

Make sure the brooder is set up properly. How old is this baby quail? The first week a baby quail needs to start at around 97 degrees and the temp lowered by 5 degrees each week. Make sure there are no drafts in the brooder, one with solid walls and not too large for one baby quail. Use an infra red bulb so the quail can sleep. Keep everything dry around the water area. Make sure he knows where the food and water is. Don't assume quail know where to get a drink of water...they can be a bit dumb as babies. Dip his beak in the water a few times so he knows where it is.

Why do you think he is having trouble breathing? If he is truly suffering from some respiratory issue, you can put antibiotics in the water. But I would resist that until you see discharge or coughing. You CAN add vitamins to the water to give him a boost.

You might want to put a small stuffed animal in with him, or an over turned feather duster so he can snuggle with something soft and feathery. Add a parakeet mirror so he thinks there are other quail nearby.
