Sick chicken 4 months old

We already own penescillin for our chickens. Can we give that to them orally and use it like Tylan 50? It is injectable.

So, so sorry to hear about your loved chicken.. wish you all the best. There are many who have experience that should give you the needed guidance you need. At times no matter how we try to help our loved chickens a lot is out of our hands. I wish you the best and I wish I had more to offer you in this stressful time...my thoughts are with you!

Injectable penicillin cannot be used orally, as Tylan can. Respiratory diseases may not respond to penicillin, since many bacteria have deceloped resistance to pcn. Most vets recommend Tylan which can be found in many feed stores in the injectable form. Vets may prescribe other antibiotics that might work better against other bacteria. I would use Tylan 50 injectable 0.2 ml per pound of weight, and either give it orally or by injection into the breat muscle, twice a day for 5 days.

Vet Rx has herbal oils in it, some like and use it, but there are no antibiotics in it. Oregano, rosemary, camphor, pine oils in corn oil are ingredients.

I went out and checked her today. I discovered that there is snot coming from her nose, and the eye that is watery is now red and she keeps it closed. She is still very sluggish. I'm so stressed out and don't know what to do!

Antibiotics. Tylan 50. ASAP. It is a broad spectrum antibiotic that you can dose by mouth. If it were me I'd treat all the birds. I don't like using antibiotics but there are certain times you just have to do what you can to try to save your birds. If you delay another day you could have a dead bird. I hate to sound morbid or dramatic, but chickens go downhill SO fast once they're sick enough to show they're sick. They hide it well until they're really really sick.
