Sick Chicken, Is it Time to Cull?

I've started to notice kind of an acrid sweet smell form the hen. Somebody before described it as a sour smell. What does that mean?

Sometimes that smell is sour crop / thrush.

I had a bad case of sour crop. If that's what it is, this link will help. Threehorses helped me with great advise. I cleared "Honey's" crop by making her puke. It was not fun. But she is healthy and happy now. And should start laying any day.

I now use the ACV in the water every day. 1-2 Tbsp to 1 gal. of water. Andt they get plain yogart at least 2x a week.

that this is the problem and you can clear it up. I made her puke the first night and cleared about 98% out of the crop. The next day I had to do it again 2x. And on the third day much improvement. The crop was not as big. And not as big every day. On day 5 it was back to normal.
