sick chicken (pussy eyes)

QTips, saline and some squeezing can help get pus out of an eye. If you smell a bad odor or suspect coryza, contact your vet for medication. Sulfa antibiotics such as sulfadimethoxine or smz-tmp (bactrim, sulfatrim) can help.

For future reference, Neosporin is a brand name. We call it "Triple Antibiotic Ointment" in the hospital. It is also available in generic form. The three main active ingredients in Neosporin are neomycin sulfate, polymyxin B sulfate, and bacitracin zinc.[17][8] You should have something similar there. It is a broad spectrum combination. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neomycin/polymyxin_B/bacitracin

It worked very well when one our hens was attacked by a possum. (Extensive muscle damage at the tail and the skin tore from her R. flank.) We brought her inside and slathered Neosporin on her wounds each day. Note that the brand name worked better in this case because the petroleum base melted quicker and 'dissolved' into the wounds. The generic (Walmart brand) which I normally use on ourselves stayed solid long enough that the hen picked it off and ate it.
I am sorry for your loss. An infection that bad, that close to the brain would probably have been fatal regardless of your actions.
You did all you could, now take care of yourself and your family.:hugs
