Sick chicks that lived? Safe to mix in with flock?

I raise a lot of chicks both to sell and for my personal coop. My husband bought some chicks from a local lady (silkies). A few days after we bought her chicks a local forum called this lady out for selling sick chicks and about 30 people chimed in that they had also gotten sick chicks from her. Over the course of 2 weeks we lost all of the 11 chicks we bought from her as well as about 20 chicks that were in separate containers but apparently this “sickness” must be airborn. I’ve definitely learned my lesson from this terrible incident and will definitely be more careful! But what do I do with the chicks that survived?

So the chicks would appear completely fine and then just die with no symptoms at all. We attempted medicated chick food, and several over the counter chicken supplements! Finally we tried sweet water and it’s been two weeks now and we haven’t lost a chick since. My question is are these chicks safe to put with other chicks or probably forever carriers of whatever this was? I have no clue what to do with these chicks now because I could never ever sell sick chicks and I’m not sure if it would contaminate other flocks?

Most respiratory illness in chickens is contagious during the symptomatic stages. These are often caused by viruses. Viruses enter the cells of the chickens and remain, later causing more symptoms if the chickens are under stress. They are usually treated with Tylosin. So, yeah, it's now in your flock.

Glad you learned your lesson about trusting private chick sellers. Some people are sociopaths and simply do not care.

Do not sell birds anymore that would be so so wrong.
Have some testing done by your state lab.
What state are you in?
