Sick chicks very lethargic food stuck in beaks what's wrong?

I'm doing a search trying to find anything that sounds like this, any help would be much appreciated!

We have a dozen chicks in our brooder-- 8 from the feed store, 4 silkies from a local person.

It almost looks like food gummed up in there, but I know they are sick.

We pulled the food out and separated them plus two other chicks that didn't have the food packed in their beaks but seem lethargic compared to the rest.
