Sick dying chicks. **UPDATE 8-7 PICS pg. 19**

Stacey, I would have done the same thing. You need peace of mind when you feed your beautiful family and if you had any doubts about keeping those to process, it's better you did it now and have that out of the way. You dont need another thing to worry about. I'm sorry you're going through this, but think of it as a tunnel and you are probably in the middle, but a tunnel always has another end. You'll come out the other side into some fresh air and this will all be over soon. I'm glad you are finding the people you need to help you through it, too.

YOu did the right thing Stacey by culling the cockerals. I too would not have fed those to my family. I am still here a prayin for ya. Keep your chin up, your days will get brighter soon. Bunches of hugs from the northern 58

It was a hard thing to do, but I feel like I did the right thing. I couldn't have kept all of the cockerels here. They would have fought and I wouldn't have given them away because I wouldn't want anyone else to eat them or pose the possible risk of infecting someone else's flock. I am not the kind of person who passes my problems on to someone else.

Well, here's to a better day today.

:aww Oh, I'm so sorry you had to cull your cockerels, but hopefully you'll be able to save some pullets!! I think how Cynthia stated what you're going through really hit home for me....for you. How fortunate you are to have found a cause and know the treatment! Sometimes, you go through this and never really know what you're treating, and just cross your fingers & pray you made the right decision. Sounds to me like you have confirmation that corzya is what you've got, and you know how to treat. GREAT news! Please keep us posted on how they do with the Gallimycin treatment!!

You know I will Wynette!

I'm anxious to get the stuff so I can work on getting them better. I think that the cockerels were some of the sickest birds out of the 5 wk. olds. When I picked them up, I could just feel the junk moving around in their chests when they breathed. It wasn't all of them, but several were like that. The pullets that are left sound pretty good today. I just need to get my 2 wk. old babies on the mend. They sound rough and they are the ones that keep dying. Their little bodies just aren't strong enough yet to fight something like this off. I am hoping and praying that some of them pull through this for me.

Thank you all for your support and concern. It has helped a whole lot!

Stacey - I'm so sorry this had to happen to you. Please tell me that your little girls "little" bird is doing okay?

I didn't bring any birds to Danville but showed up just to meet people. One thing I saw while there is the state vet conducting tests on everyone's birds. I was there when she tested Brandon's and the lady next to him where you got your chicks. You might want to call her and ask her what the results were. If the lady did in fact have diseased birds they should have tested positive. I'm not saying you didn't get it from her but I know every swap we have had in VA has had the state vet testing everyone's birds. If you don't have her name and number let me know and I'll send it to you.

Regardless, quarantining is something we ALL take for granted when we want to bring our new birds into the flock. I made an area on the complete opposite side of the farm to keep birds in quarantine. I do this even for hatchery birds. It happens from hatcheries too!

Stacey, when you get things back to normal just let me know and I can send you some more eggs for just actual shipping cost. I sure hope your little girls baby is okay!
