A few days ago, I noticed my rooster seemed to have a stuffy nose! He seemed to act normal (other than sleeping a little more) so I thought nothing about it! Today, about 5 of my hens eyes are swollen and have discharge coming from them. The affected ones vary in age and otherwise look healthy! How concerned should I be? I bought an electrolyte to add to the water and also VetRx. I am most concerned about 2 of them who are not eating and not coming out of the coop. I seperated all sick birds from the flock. I have cleaned their faces but they are not active at all. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't have any answers but I know someone will! Hope your babies get better soon.

It is definitely time to do some reading on respiratory diseases in chickens. Most are viruses, and you can treat, and at least some may survive, but you will likely always have a diseased flock if this is a respiratory virus.

A good place to start: http://dlhunicorn.conforums.com/
