Sick girl, but I can't figure out what's up.

The Tums is the size of a quarter. She's a 3 pound hen. We're all going to see how we do tonight. She doesn't have to fight the cold, and is pooping and drinking. Hopefully she'll make it through to morning. Thank you everyone! Hopefully she's better in the AM. She seems to be panting a bit tho.

If she's panting, she may be too hot. If she's been used to cery cold temps, bringing her in where it's very warm can put her into heat stress. If her comb and wattles are bright cherry red, this is what's happening and why she's panting. She can also be panting because she's in pain.

Break the huge Tums in half. She won't have any problem swallowing half at a time. She should be getting around 600mg of calcium in order to help her with strong contractions to expel the blockage.

She stopped panting, so that's good. It was more like open mouth breathing. She keeps swallowing, which I figure probably has to do with discomfort from the crop. And then she has a few drinks.

Here's a video of her. Her combs and wattles appear to be their normal color.

She's continuing to drink excessively and has had a mucousy, but otherwise normalish poo. Hasn't passed anything egg like yet, but her crop continues to deflate very slowly and it's quite liquidy now vs doughy feeling upon massage. She seems a bit more alert and willing to move about too, though obviously she's resting off and on for the night based on what appears to be discomfort. I think she ate a few bites of the mash too. 🤞 She's my favorite wee girl! I may continue to treat for coccidia if she makes it and doesn't pass an egg/egglike substance.

She made it through the night, but doesn't seem to be doing well. Her comb and wattles are pale and she's lost 1/4 of her bodyweight overnight. She seems more inclined to move and is more alert though. Her crop didn't fully empty overnight and is back to being doughy, but she ate some mash.

I gave her the 700mg Tums and will continue do another CORID drench this afternoon.

She seems to have a bit of mucousy goo hanging from her vent and she keeps looking down toward her breast/belly and is grooming a bit. Here's hoping we pass this thing and that's a problem egg and not just goo poo. When it it safe to give her another Tums?

Edit: Thank you for walking me through this! I hope we save her! It'll be just as much you're victory as mine if we do @azygous!

Well, I went to make breakfast and when I came back up there was a lake in her pen. I can't tell if she spilled her water, pooped straight water, or it's another pile of shelless egg goo. She's walking around a bit more, grooming a little, and her tail is more up. I gave her some milk soaked oats and a couple of raisins and she ate a bit. Her wattles and comb are redder too.

Edit: Spilled water. The goo on her vent is gone too, but it was just a very small amount. She really does seem to be perking up a bit though. She's less droopy and started digging in the wood chips in her pen a bit and beaking, like she would out on the range. 🤞

Gave her her second dose of CORID and 5-6 dried BSFL which she adores and ate with gusto. She's not drinking as much today though. She seems to be drooping a bit again, I wonder if she was just perking from the sugar in the Tums.
