Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I think all the prayers have really helped. Nugget is doing great! Our vet is even surprised at how well he is rebounding from the surgery. He did fantastic last night. DH stayed up with him all night, and is home sleeping now.

We are now under Dr.'s orders to bring him in for day stays until he starts eating again. During the day they are just keeping him on IV fluids and giving him antibiotics and pain meds through the catheter. He gets to come home at every night. Hopefully by tomorrow or the next day he'll be 100% at home again.

The support group at Back Yard Chickens just cannot be beat. I don't know if I even would have known what to do on Sunday without all of you. Thanks for encouraging me to take him to the emergency vet in the first place. We didn't know how seriously ill he was, and I truly believe it saved his life.

I am so happy to hear he's improving. I will continue to keep him and your family in our prayers. I think you know how we all feel about our dogs on this group. They are family...

My mom's dog did this exact same thing. The vet tested her and found she had a kidney problem (a genetic disorder) they now have to give her weekly treatments to keep her alive. As soon as I get the name I will post it for you. Her dog also had what everyone thought was allergies. She would scratch herself raw it turns out that the itchiness was a side effect of the disease. Keep us posted.
