Watery diarrhea (seen both yellowish and green w clear whitish), somewhat lethargic, comb turning pale, not eating as much, drinking corrid solution 2 tsp per gallon because it seemed like coccidiosis. She is on third day of treatment and is now roosting but still doesn’t seem too much better. I included pics of the one hen that is not sick and the other that is sick for comparison and pic of poop. Any info be helpful. She is a year old. She is holding her tail more horizontal than the not sick one.

Hi. I’m sorry your hen isn’t feeling well!

Is she still laying?
What is she eating?
Could she possibly be egg bound?
What made you think she has cocci?

I’d try and isolate her from the rest of your flock if you can for observation. You can try and syringe dose her with Nutri-Drench if you have it, or try feeding her a scrambled egg/canned tuna/wet mash of her feed/etc.

Does she have a high pitched sneeze? Chickens don’t sneeze, so indications could be respiratory related. I’m a newbie, but chickens can be naturally cured in many cases. I won’t say this is the answer but you can give the chicken oatmeal with oregano mixed in. Chickens can eat herbs like basil, oregano, thyme, and it naturally keeps them healthy. You can add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to their water if it’s sour crop, which does cause diareah. It keeps fungus from their crop, which is on the lower right of their breast. There is many possiblities, but I’d start with feeding them oatmeal with oregano. It worked for me. Make sure you are not feeding any foods they can’t digest.

Yes she laid one today but the tip was kind of soft, the inside was normal. Organic layer feed from Costco. They have access to oyster. She is still getting around and not so sick that she just stays in one spot. I knew something wasn’t right when she was not roosting and was laying on the ground. Then she has liquid poop not normal poop but I do not see blood. I just know I lost a chicken a while ago at a different house from coccidiosis and she was acting like that one did so that is why I am treating for it. She is also not active like usual. When I picked her up a bunch of liquid came out of her. Her bum does seem irritated. There is no bugs though. The other chickens act normal. The one thing I don’t have is nutri drench. I have vitamin and mineral powder but I think it goes against what corrid does.

When you picked her up and liquid came out of her, which end? Beak or Butt? How does her crop feel? I would check her crop first thing in the morning to see if it emptied completely. I’d also keep checking her for mites/lice, especially at night around the vent. They can be very hard to see, use a good flash light!

Yes, thiamine interacts with the Corid medicine and renders the Corid inactive, I wasn’t thinking of that until you brought it up. I’d try instead wet mash of her feed or a scrambled egg or something she likes.

Is it true that a pale face means she is dying? My sister told me that over the phone. She is still walking

Her crop seems normal but I’ll check in morning and look again tonight for the bugs. The liquid water came out of her rear and it is red swollen in that area.
