Skinny and heavy are two different things..... Feel her breast area.... is her breast bone sharp under the skin indicating that she has lost breast muscle. Then cup your hand and feel between her legs and below her vent. Does it feel full or bloated.... compare with your other chicken if you are unsure.... roosting time is a good opportunity to do this so that you can feel one and then the other straight after. If she feels heavy, my guess would be that she has ascites (water belly) probably due to a reproductive ailment. Is her butt soiled/poopy? If so, give her a soak in warm water with Epsom Salts if you have some and gently rub to clean her up and have a good look at her back end, for any abnormality..... those feathers can hide a lot. Make sure to dry her thoroughly afterwards with a towel and hair drier and if the skin is inflamed or damaged, put some wound ointment like triple antibiotic ointment on it. If you can take some photos of her vent area whilst it is still wet we may be able to advise. Do not have the water too deep when you bath her, just enough to come up to her vent and do not tip her over on her back at any point, as, if she is full of fluid(ascites) this will put a lot of pressure on her respiratory system.

Get back to us with more info and we will try to help but there may not be much that can be done.

From your description of a squishy crop, she may have an impacted, sour, slow or doughy crop. Bring her in or cage her so you can monitor her more closely.

Thanks for your help but she died :(

Is she broody?
Is she eggbound?
What is your dad feeding them?
Please check her out closley, look for mites and lice. Check her bottom, is it dirty?
Let us know, it could be very serious if she is not eating.
Thanks but she died :(
