1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)
Amber sex link. She's about two years old, and although I'm unable to pick her up, she seems to be the same size as her sisters.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
Slightly lethargic. She will fly onto the roosts/trees and can run and walk fine. She has a drooping comb, and it seems to be a bit paler than normal, and she cowers from all of the other hens. I don't think I've seen her lay in a bit, but that may be because she's a bit older.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?
I'd say about 5 days.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?
No.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
She is missing many feathers on her back and wings, most likely from our rooster. She has peck marks from the other hens on her face.
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Not sure.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
She's been drinking fine, and eating the layer pellets after the other chickens.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
I haven't been able to get a look at her poop specifically, but doing a scan of the coop and run, I haven't seen any poops that look out of the ordinary. I'll update this part tomorrow w more information.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
We've put apple cider vinegar in their water.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
We plan to do it ourselves.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
I'll be able to get a picture tomorrow.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use
We have a smallish barn-like structure with two roosts, all of the chickens roosting on the highest. We use hay for bedding, and it's cleaned out every week or two. Currently we have a dog crate in the coop with our chick.
