Sick hen round 2

Update: the medicine SHOULD come tomorrow. But anyhow, here is her setup now…she is still eating and drinking. I let her out daily to take dust bathes. The crate is still in the coop. She is a lot more energetic today and even dodges me and walks around with the rest of the chickens. She is also the roosters favorite, so I hope she makes it until winter when she molts! Hoping for the best!

Okay, so great news! The medicine has not yet arrived, BUT when I went to feed the chickens this morning, I checked her crop. Without even making her vomit, her crop was empty, like totally empty. I then fed her her softened feed. She ate it and I will refill it during the afternoon like I always do, feeding her 1/2 to 1 cup at a time. Does this mean she does not have sour crop anymore? @Wyorp Rock @azygous

Is there still an odor?
Even if a crop empties, sometimes it can be sour if there's an odor.

What does her poop look like? Sour crop does produce a very smelly runny poop.

You can set aside the anti-yeast med for the time being as long as her crop is empty in the morning. But be ready to start her on it if her crop has failed to empty overnight.

An explanation for the sudden improvement may be she had an obstruction in her gizzard that spontaneously cleared. Continue to provide grit and add a probiotic or yogurt to her diet for a few days.

Yogurt…would artificially flavored work, her poop is solid. Every single one, I clean her pad everyday, and never seen a smelly runny poop. The pad is a little wet in the photo, but the poop is solid for sure. She did have a slightly wetter poop the day I noticed her being lethargic though, it’s the second picture.

As for grit, I take her out daily to get what she needs from the other stations. She is taking dust bathes also, so that’s better than a few days ago.

Here is her poop from yesterday night. Do you think she will make it?? And can the yogurt be artificially flavored?
