Hi! Got a very sick 2 year old hen. She's breathing with her mouth open, doesn't eat or drink and is turning yellow.
Today she's been having a hard time, she isn't standing up and barely opens her eyes
Please help, any idea of what's wrong with her or what disease she may have.

Welcome to the forum, @dgp. So sorry your hen is sick! Can you tell us a little more about her symptoms, please?
How does her crop feel - empty, full, hard, squishy...?
Is there anything abnormal about her belly (swollen? red? hard?) or vent area?
When did she last lay an egg?
Does her breathing sound normal or is she struggling?
Does she have a bad odor?
Can you pull her lower beak down and look inside her mouth and throat?
What has she been eating - or what kind of feed do you give her, and what kind of treats and how much?
What is her coop area like?
How old is she?
Where did you get her?
If you have other chickens, are any of them new to the flock?

I'm tagging a few experts here that may be able to help - but they'll need the answers to these questions, at least.

We can't tell what's making your hen sick, just that she's very ill. She's probably close to death.

Unfortunately, once a hen can no longer stand, or eat or drink, treatment options are few to non-existent.

If this came on suddenly, it may be toxic poisoning from moldy food or insecticide or rodenticide. If her poop is white and watery, it could be botulism toxin from eating insects deep in rotting vegetation.

If it came one slowly, and if she's had a history of shell-less or thin shell eggs, she may be terminally egg bound.

There are many more chicken diseases, too many unfortunately to try to guess.

Welcome to BYC, sorry your hen is so sick. Can you bring her inside and put her in a warm room? 80-85 degrees is ideal.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your help. Sadly, she just passed in my arms.
Took her to the vet last Friday, but I guess it didn't help either, her symptoms began last Monday, but she still ate and drank water. Couldn't get help from any vet last Tuesday cause I couldn't find any good vets where I live (outside US).
Feeling very sad, specially cause last month my rooster got stollen, him and the hen were gifted to me two years ago when they were 5 days old.
Anyway, still thankful for your quick responses.
