Sick mallard

Check craigslist in your area. You can usually get adult ducks very cheaply. The breed or sex does not matter at this point. He just needs a friend.

I've been checking but haven't had any luck. I have found a farm on Craigslist that wants to adopt him if I can't find another duck. I hope it doesn't come to that because my son will be even more devastated.

Reading this reminds me of the horrible time that my poor rouens were ill and fitting but i had no idea why or what was going on. i thought for sure they were dying as i was holding them whilst the spazzed out fitting. it was horrifing and the next morning it took me hours to bring myself to check up on them. luckily my ducks respond to the sound of me awakening and the next morning it was like nothing ever happened. they were all perky and feeding and drinking ect. it was really wierd and im soo sorry for your loss. i sont know what i would have done if even one of my babies were to pass away. i have rouens which a essentially giant french mallards. Hope you find a freind for him soon but in the meantime letting him socialize with the dogs is a good thing. i strongly belive that a ducks greatest hunger is for attention and companionship and that is probablly the biggest thing ive learnt about ducks since i hatched mine almost 2 years ago.

Thank you. I had never owned a duck before and never understood how anyone could get so attached. Now I completely get it. They were Easter presents for my boys but they turned into my babies and I want to do what's best for Ferb (the drake).

Same i hatched mine as a radom project with the intention of donating them to a farm or something but the instant the popped out i was attached more than i explain. when you have something as cute as that which depends on you and thinks of you as a parent i dont think even the most heartless person could resist
