Sick Muscovy

Oh dear. Poor little girl. I have never seen anything like that but it has to be reproductive products that are mal formed. I'm pretty certain I have seen pictures of similar in an article on duck reproduction.

Do give her calcium while you wait for a vet availability

The implants work out cheaper than injections. Hopefully, if the vet doesn't come up with a different diagnosis, taking off the remainder of this laying season will give her body the needed rest and she will recover.

I'm hoping your number 1 diagnostic possibility is wrong

Keep us in the loop: we are all here for you and her

Thank you both :hugs! I made an appointment for her tomorrow afternoon. My husband is reluctantly bringing her in as it is my super long day at work. Hopefully, they can give her injectable medications while there as hubby and I are are leaving to go out of town for 5 days starting Wednesday to visit his father who has been ill. We will have a house/pet sitter, but she’s not experienced with ducks.

I definitely want to pursue the implant if possible. Last time this came up, with Daphne, I was told this could not be done in Vermont. Hopefully, they were either wrong, or that has changed.

Thank you all for your kind replies! G2 had a successful visit! I told hubby to ask about an implant, and they did it! I thought it wasn’t available here! I feel bad now that I didn’t know that earlier this spring for Daphne’s sake. At any rate, no more egg laying for G2 this summer! She also received an anti-inflammatory injection and an oral antibiotic. I am leaving Wednesday AM, so that’s a bit problematic, but I’ll see what can be done. The first picture is of her during her visit. They other two are of her once she got home!

Thank you! :hugs She’s got awfully large pills that I have to give, so we will see how that goes. I’m going to at least get her on the right track before I leave. There’s enough to do a full 14 day course on we get back too. I hope that this gets her back to her full strength!

Glad everything went well and you were able to get that implant. She looks good, and bravo to hubby for being able to do this! 🥳
