Sick of rising fuel prices!

While we're Bush-bashing, here's one of my favorites. Taking politics completely out of the picture (since I dont like any of the candidates we have before us, I can do this with ease!) and only looking at the numbers, you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing. Courtesy of www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250

It is amazing how many people in the categories above think Bush is hosing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama is elected, he swears he will repeal the Bush tax cuts and return to the higher rates.
Oddly, many of the people in the above categories can't wait for his brand of "change" to happen. It's baffling, really.

It's like the movie, "The Sting," with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of their money and they don't even know what happened.

Remember, Congress creates laws, not the President.

To be honest, I'm sick of seeing people b*tch and moan about gas prices, yet they still drive their suvs in the city. Like they NEED that.
I understand that some people need trucks for their farms, etc. But I also see the majority of them scheduling their errands and shopping, so they're driving less. I don't buy this supply and demand crapola at all.

For the city dwellers, suck it up and buy a bike. For real. I live in the dang MOUNTAINS and we bike. The only thing we use the car for, is for DH to get to work 18 miles away. You want to see something neat? Check out an Xtracycle . You can fit as many groceries on that, as you can in your trunk. Much better than a gym membership.

OMG if I had to ride a bike to the store I'd DIE!

But if I lived in a city I would still not ride a bike to the store.

I just don't have extra time in my day like that. If I can get the shopping done in 30 minutes compared to 2 hours, I take the 30 minutes.

Gas here went down to $3.88 a gallon. I use the MSN gas tracker to find the cheapest place, saved us 21cents per gallon. Just wish I didn't have to pay 3 or 4 separate times since debits at stations are now limited to $50 per purchase, and I have a 30 gallon tank

That's annoying.

Me too! Where would I put the kids, or groceries? I have 5 kids, that's a lot of food!

Shellie, if I lived closer to town, I would so buy that bike. That is awesome!

I know right? I'd like to get the attachments for our bikes. Currently, we just have bike trailers. We live in town, but we'll be moving 7 miles outside of it soon. Luckily, I can haul a good 100lbs in the trailers, so we're good on groceries
