I don't think it's mites I noticed this morning that a few birds look like there molting but not sure I will post pitcher's today but I'm worried I feel bad for them if the roos are being aggressive there not doing it outside in the run bit I'll post as many pitchers as I can

This is molting season. Look closely for pin/blood feathers.

Doesn't mean your boy is overly aggressive... It means he's mating too much. He might be clumsy and falling off while still holding on. And quite simple 10 gals is NOT enough for 2 young cockerels! They aren't roosters yet, it usually gets better with age but you can expect it to become worse as spring approaches.

I did have a boy who would peck the combs after he got off the ladies. It reminded me of mental abuse to try and keep them in line and submissive to him. Anyways, mating is one thing being a bastard is another and he is long gone! :drool

Sometimes feathers that get pulled ALL the way out will grow back in before molt. But not always. It MAY be the molting season, but I have never yet seen it look like that or start there. Plus you would see a feather pillow type explosion. And none of my ladies molt in the same exact spot. Plus if you are getting eggs, that won't happen (very often) during molt. It's usually a complete stall in production. And their behavior changes drastically in my experience. Usually some self isolation and avoidance of others. Just my thoughts.

Sometimes, things really are as simple as they seem on the surface. ;)

I agree. However, if the roosters heads are fine, no signs of lice, I believe it will be from breeding.
I didn't see anything with lice or mites, but would the hens have bald spots if there molting,it looks like only a couple have light feathers like really lite feathers on there backs but a few have bald spots that were never there ,but I'm going to get some pitcher's today

How many times do they molt and do they all do it at same time

Generally speaking, fall and winter is a common time for birds to molt, however other factors such as stress, broodiness, sudden light changes, illness etc, can have them molting any time of year.

The trigger to molt is different in every bird, some molt completely annually, some mini molt after broodiness and in the fall, some skip molting all together some years. I have had some start molting in August while others waited until the end of December, all in the same year and flock. And again, you can tell molting by the amount of pin feathers behind the neck, vent area, breast too. These feathers are easy to see, they can look like pins, blood in the growing feather.
